summary: Scroll-optimisation for pterm
class: wish: This is a request for an enhancement.
difficulty: tricky: Needs many tuits.
priority: dormant: This is an old feature request that we no longer think is relevant.

Richard Boulton once had a patch to add scroll optimisation to pterm.

SGT, 2016-12-20: removed long-dead link to this patch. We don't know where it is any more, and even if we did, it was over a decade old and would certainly not be directly applicable against current main. Also, upgrading this to Tricky on the basis that scroll optimisation turned out to be harder than we thought anyway; these days if we did want to implement it we should redo it from scratch on _both_ major front ends.

SGT, 2024-11-17: classifying this wish as dormant. Computers are fast enough these days that nobody seems to care that we have no scroll optimisation. Also, as it says above, we can't find the mentioned patch any more anyway!
